What opened, and when?

Uzbekistan’s national tourism portal reports that the Islamic Civilization Center opened in Tashkent in March 2026. Its announcement, published on 6 April, describes a museum, library and spaces for research and education. The museum includes a Quran Hall featuring the Mushaf of Uthman, alongside exhibitions exploring Central Asia’s cultural and scientific history. Read the official opening announcement.

The March opening is worth considering when revisiting an older Tashkent itinerary. We checked the announcement on 7 September 2026.

Give scholarship a place in your journey

What to confirm before you go

An opening announcement does not confirm the arrangements for your particular travel date. Ask the venue or your guide about:

  • Opening days, current admission charges and any booking requirements.
  • Access to the specific halls or manuscripts you hope to see.
  • Guided visits and the languages available.
  • Photography rules, step-free access and places to rest.

Allow enough flexibility to enjoy the visit without watching the clock for your next transfer. A museum visit can suit a different pace from a mosque or memorial visit; talk through that distinction with your group.

Fit the visit around your priorities

Our suggested seven-day route leaves room for Tashkent before continuing to Samarkand and Bukhara. Use that time to choose the visits that matter most to you. If the centre is a priority, leave another activity optional rather than overloading arrival day.
